This is disgusting. The Paramount contract reminds me of what Rachel Maddow reported about Viktor Orban and the story of the street lights in neighborhoods. He enriched his son-in-law by these same kinds of ‘contracts’. Outrageous.

So all this is a variation of the death freight trains to concentration camps Nazi Germany created. How can these contract people live with themselves. We have to do more to stop this before we're all on that "train". Think "MORE".

Another helpful article. Thank you! And now a bunch of questions about the contract, oversight and information that can be used to understand the economic impacts of the deportations.

What reports is Paramount required to publish and when? Are they auditable and who will audit them?

Can Congress view them and who are the key members responsible? Please tell me they are SaltBox subscribers... What is known about what the group is charged with and how up to speed they are? Does their funding come from the ICE budget or ?

Is the hiring process for the transportation employees pretty generic in terms of background searches, criminal records, or ? Are there perks such as housing and living expenses or are they drawn from the local population? What health insurance, retirement plans are offered? Are they permitted to form unions? Is the salary range comparable to existing jobs in the area?

How is the sheer number of new, non executive level ICE employees comparing to the number of deportees who were job holders? How many of the new employees were previously employed and how many were receiving assistance? Do the employees themselves have 5 year contracts or only Paramount?

How is the number of actual deportations from the US being tracked? Is there a single database or multiple ones? Does it include location data by individual such as their locations at time of initial detention, intermediate facilities, airport of exit? Does the Prez get a daily total during his daily briefing? (Sorry - trying to find something silly in this tragedy!)

Who operates the database? How can it be accessed? Can it or will it be compared with whatever Paramount is required to produce to confirm the number of people it shuffles around the country? Who performs the audits?

Are the (American) cities, counties, states of origin notified in a timely way when former residents are deported?

If the individuals were illegally voting as claimed by the administration, doesn't ICE have a duty to notify the county registrar the way mortuaries do? Again, only joking here, but if they were registered to vote, how do we learn which party they had been registered for?

Is there a duty for ICE to publish basic, auditable and otherwise useful stats about the detainees and deportees such as sex, age or age category such as infancy, school age, working age, 62/65 and older, years of formal education, nationality, criminal history of misdemeanors, felonies, destination country...? Does the ICE database include information about the occupations of the people being deported or what sectors of the workforce they were working in?

How will the various agencies which monitor and report workforce participation be notified of people who have disappeared from the country as opposed to disappearing from the labor force for other reasons?

Because the program was designed to remove criminals, what should we expect to see in reduced prison populations? Are Federal, State, local prison and jail operators required to publish census changes that can be verifiably attributed to deportations? Are criminal courts required to provide census data so that reduction in volume from deportations can be audited? Are they currently somewhat commensurate with increases in immigration court volumes?

When the individuals have contributed to safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare, are those agencies notified when the person is deported? Will the agencies report how many fewer contributors or recipients they have due to deportations? Maybe Medicare won't go broke as soon as expected?!

Apologies for all the sidetracks, but SaltBox information always seems to trigger more questions!

When will we hear details of this morning’s (Wednesday) court hearing?

Good morning! I'll write more, soon - but spoiler alert: the Judge granted Maryland's request for a preliminary injunction. ICE must now cease all conversation work at the Williamsport warehouse, and conduct a full environmental NEPA review.
