Hopefully the people of Baltimore will respond with the same courage as Minneapolis.

Of course the Washington area is another possibility, though in that case too many well-connected people might complain if the help suddenly turned up missing.

Yeah, it's very important to note that the "Baltimore Area of Responsibility" is in truth the entire state of Maryland. From Williamsport — or any of their other staging areas — they can hit anywhere very quickly.

DHS shell game. Thanks, Project Salt Box, for your organized resistance!

How are they gonna triple their detainees? The warehouse in Hagerstown is not ready for human habitation. They’re overcrowded in Baltimore. Are they going to start stacking them like logs?

The WIlliamsport site will hold 1500 people but it is not nearly ready with a concrete flooring and reported on an interview via PBS NEWS only 4 toilets in the building. Concrete flooring does not lend itself to being drilled through for piping for water and sewer additions and siding that is not insulated was OK for STUFF but not for people.

I am sad to say that I don't think ICE cares.

Julie Goodnight's avatar

I totally agree. I’m not sure that’s a concern of our government at this time. Concrete floors and cages with only four toilets for those people sounds like the conditions they’re living in now. This is why people are protesting. We don’t want people being abused or dying in our county because ice doesn’t know how to follow the law.

Isn't this the issue with all the warehouses? This entire half-baked idea is ridiculous. ICE must be full of idiots in management roles.

The humans they are kidnapping have been dehumanized by this regime…look back in history and see how Black Americans were merely chattel, this is where we are

Project Saltbox is the best. No other journalistic site is covering the actions of DHS/ICE/Border Patrol, et. al., in such detail at a granular level. We NEED TO KNOW what is happening in our communities and what we can do to monitor these actions to protect the US Constitution and civil liberties.

Ugh I knew they would be coming to Maryland just didn’t think it would be this soon

I’ll be surprised if ICE ramps up in MD. That would be quite suicidal. MD is basically DC, the I95 corridor with wealthy and well connected major political assets. Any ramp up would have a massive resistance that is going to be extremely disruptive to powerful elected officials and their staffs….not to mention that Maryland is in a great Federal circuit and appeals district which is going to rule against Trump. I cannot fathom them being this dumb, but as a DHS contractor if this happens I will be there on the front line to resist.

I’ve already had the government try to intimidate me. Special Agent Conrad of the Secret Service called me to try and meet in November, then in February two FBI agents came to my house. I take it as a badge of honor.

Mygod...ICE is poison streaming out every ICE orifice, and every move they make I feel like punching the wall. Just the simple sentence of their transferring these people so faraway from their loved ones, friends and community has me livid. ICE/IDF/BORDER PATROL/MANY POLICE DEPT., truly treat these frightened and traumatized people like they are hauling cattle.

How do I get involved on the ground?

Jo Ann Staub's avatar

I wonder how soon ICE will be auctioning off their massive Fleet of new vehicles to the public. What a needless waste of money that could be helping people.

Diantha R Weilepp's avatar

Another tactic to consider is : how does ICE fuel their vehicles. Where do they gas up? Is there any way to disrupt this vital step?

Diane Dzurochak's avatar

Interesting that they are trading out vehicles. Maybe because resisters have become familiar with those vehicles, and can identify them immediately? New vehicles = anonymity, at least for awhile.

Thank you. Sent this info to relatives in Maryland.

1,500 is probably a very low estimate for how many people DHS/ICE could/will ultimately detain in that Williamsport warehouse. It's 825,000 sq ft. Assume 750,000 sq ft of that for actually detaining people, and 150 sq ft per detaininee, and that translates to 5,000 detainees. And, knowing DHS/ICE, it could end up being much higher than that.

This'll teach Baltimore not to enrich uranium and fund proxy terrorists in Minneapolis.
