The no-bid deal is five times the size of the agency's previous contract with the Massachusetts company and could put devices in agents' hands by late June.
Thank you for your reporting and service! It’s a horrible situation in this country right now 💔 but a reckoning is coming, for sure. Hard to see it now, but come it will. Nothing as unsustainable as the MAGA Regime can last that long. And the bigger they are, the harder they fall.
A local group of activists have been protesting in Plymouth against Bi2 for months. Bi2's technology started being used in the prison in Plymouth, which now serves as an ICE detentiin center. Dem Gov Maura Healey has maintained this prison contract w ICE, the only Dem-led state that does so.
Let's hope this latest development generates more protest -- and pushback against Healey.
Thank you for this report. Isn't it illegal to bypass those reviews? Not that DHS cares. ICE and CBP will just continue abducting and deporting those with standing to sue, and Congress will let it slide.
Everytime TSA asks me to let them take a photo to compare to my ID when I am goung through security at an airport, I refuse (you are allowed to refuse but not everyone knows that). This iris scanning is exponentially more intrusive into our privacy than a photo and we should all stand up and protest against it. Since DOGE broke the systems that hold our sensitive private data there are no longer any controls to protect that data from falling into the wrong hands. Wr don't need to let the government collect even more sensitive data like this iris image on us that won't be adequately protected. Contact your congressmen and senators to demand they enact legislation to stop ICE from using this technology during their raids and detainments.
I just keep wondering what is going to happen with all the things/services that ICE is acquiring when ICE goes away. Positive thinking... I also wonder who in Donald's circle is making money off of this contract. If we can recoup what Donald has stolen and profited from, we could probably make a good dent in the increased national debt he has caused. The national debt isn't a problem when debt is incurred for good, but nothing going on under the Trump regime is good.
We cancel all the contracts on January 20, 2029. Given how little scrutiny the administration has given the companies and the sloppiness of the process, it could be the contracts are improper, and easy to void. Plus, suing the government over a terminated contract does not look good if a company wants future contracts.
The next administration will not continue the massive detention policies solely because there are contracts. Also, I can imagine the next administration changing the work orders radically, so that the contractors will give up. I'm imagining guards at these private prisons being repurposed to clean national parks across country, and the detention center warehouses being repurposed to hold aid packages for immigrants and the staff serving food to immigrants.
Good thoughts. I was thinking in terms of actual equipment and software development. Then, there are all the concentration camps that they currently have in place and for which they paid exorbitant prices. Hopefully, with the focus of Project Salt Box, additional facilities can be stopped.

I agree. Just like Israel’s Iron Dome was supposed to be impenetrable —- until it wasn’t —-
Wow … this is one of those hard to click on the heart but thank you for informing us.

Wow — I didn’t realize Bi2 is a spinoff from Plymouth prison system

Another outrageous deal. Congress--wake up and stop sleeping on the job. This deal raises many, many red flags and should NOT be approved.
🚨HEY DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ICE SETTING UP CREMATORIUMS❗❓
https://youtu.be/aBMJOAUMb5U from Thom Hartmann
As soon as we can we must de-fund ICE, get new immigration legislation past CLOSE THE Detention centers, get green energy encouraged again mm
I wonder about contact lenses. I might want to start wearing them because of this iris-scanning technology.
