WE are paying for these concentration camps - yes, that is the accurate definition of these camps. WE are paying for the profiteering by GEO Group. If WE are able to elect people that represent us, WE need to demand that they 1- ABOLISH ICE, 2- Defund HSI, 3 - Close all concentration camps. Then we can cheer as we watch Geo Group stock go into the toilet.
Horrifying track record. As some have said, cruelty is the point. I agree with the comment that legacy news needs to cover this on an ongoing basis, similar to what they did with the Epstein files. My other thought is that the amount of Federal tax dollars now devoted to the Make America White Again project - aka ICE - must be rising to economically significant levels. Probably not close to what the build out of the AI industry is circulating through the economy, but probably another pretty good chunk. Is anyone compiling an ongoing record of how much it is?
Also, how much debt are we accumulating to achieve these 2 goals. I know AI isn't in your purview, but the comparison to it might be informative... We use GDP numbers to inform us about the health of the economy as a whole. It might be helpful to know how much of the GDP relies on these 2 particular segments.
