Warehouses are designed for storing supplies and other inanimate objects. I feel sure that prisons are required to have certain types of air circulation, sanitation, privacy, and food storage/preparation areas. Everything about ‘storing’ detained immigrants in warehouses seems wrong, inhumane, unsanitary and dangerous.
Can local Zoning prevent housing people in these warehouses can uses allowed in the zoning district outlaw heist, detention centers? I imagine the feds can come in and override it but I mean is that a first step Town should be looking at?
The federal government has eminent domain. The only way they could’ve stopped ICE was to convince the prior owner of the warehouse not to sell it to DHS. It is likely too late, unless the former warehouse owner can somehow invalidate the purchase. Local governments can delay/restrict/drag their feet in providing utilities to the warehouse. Likely they will need more water and sewage than what is currently available there. They can also try to convince any contractors to drag their feet it delivering supplies and making modifications to the warehouse that would make it possible to house people there. However, I do not know how legal those options are, nor whether the federal government has the ability to force them not to delay or to find other means of punishing anyone
who throws roadblocks into their ability to house people there.
I say drown them in paperwork, delay, delay, delay…. But I’m no lawyer so who knows if it can be done.
I read and saved in my Pinterest, an article that relates to the Hagerstown project. I went back to review it; the header remains but the opposition concerns letter was gone. In a recent event, the public notified the Md Historic Commission that the new ownership were going to modify a public roadway as a result of the warehouse operations. That was not included in the plans to be reviewed in the required Historic Commission’s review. I additionally noted the descriptor of the purchased warehouse was also removed. The warehouse had only two single toilets in its housing for 1500 people, both men and women, and perhaps children from infancy to age 18 or 21 years. The whole ICE program is ridiculous. Of all people detained by ICE, 1/2 were American citizens. This is unacceptable. Congress could simply separate out the departments that everyone agrees should be funded-there are quite a few under DHS, where there is no disagreement. Coast Guard—no disagreement there. They absolutely should be funded. FEMA has money available to pay out, including disaster response funds already approved, that are desperately needed by NC & SC citizens still struggling more than one year later to recover from massive Hurricane damage. We must continue this important work-thank you Salt Box Project for your dedicated work.
This is disgusting. I think this is Pennsylvania in the article but I’m not sure. These concentration camps aren’t just for “illegal immigrants”. They’re eventually going to house people who don’t agree with this dictatorship. FDT.
"They’re eventually going to house people who don’t agree with this dictatorship. "
In your dreams. Current potus will be out in a few years, probably from impeachment. These are actually permanent facilities immune from any humanitarian restrictions. This is due to the bipartition plenary powers doctrine.
The potential reality is far worse than you are capable of having a nightmare about though. I dare anyone to compute the probability of the Epstein file drop timing being in the same month as the news about the camps.
Can folks please list states this is happening in? Not all of us know every place it's being considered or being built right now. Save us time from having to Google or do a search of people just put where they're located. Thanks
3 warehouses in Roxbury NJ & border towns. We fought the sale before it happened and we're notified by DHS that they backed out of the deal and 3 days later they bought. Full of Lies. But We are still fighting them. 💪
Warehousing humans in boxes for boxes…… so dystopian BUT it is happening here and now. Stay on it, Sharon Lee…. Keep asking questions…gather neighbors….keep fighting…It is up to us to stop this.
@Sharon Lee I’m petrified that this is exactly what they are going to do in Lebanon, TN. DHS claimed they backed out of the deal last week after going back and forth several times the week prior. I don’t believe them. Can you tell me specifically which facility(ies) did they announce they weren’t going to buy and then later bought? I would like to present this information to Lebanon City Council on Tuesday 3/3/26. TIA!!
These three are in Roxbury, New Jersey. I live on the border of these buildings. Google it online and you'll see all the protesting and town hall meetings and such. If you have a problem finding what you need, message me back.
We also have protesters on our side in Texas. That is where the owner of the building has additional buildings and offices. We have the governor and Andy Kim. State officials and Congress people and whoever you can find we're getting them involved.
Also you can look up Maryland. Ice just moved 57 vehicles Maryland and they're setting up a detention center now. I have a friend down there who says she thinks they're going too bombard any day now.
Don't be scared. Be MAD. Because not what he's doing. It's how he's doing it Not getting congressional approvals.. brutality and inhumane practices.
Below the Belt (way) is another pod to check with Cameron Stevenson. He shows a map of the country with proposed, pending and denied concentration camp prison sites.
We need to lock up the children and grandchildren of Republican congressman, and Senators in these warehouses for a couple of weeks. Hell, throw the senators and congressman in too….
ICE is the new Gestapo. They are the brutal, poorly trained thugs overseen by Kristi Himmler Noem. They operate above the law arresting and eliminating Trump's political opponents. This is America not Hitler's Germany. Stephen Miller is directing this appalling, illegal, cruelty and he should be permanently banned from any and all public services. Hanging him would be a good idea.
Haven't read other comments yet, so apologies if someone made these remarks earlier.
Project Saltbox impresses me. Thanks to all who contribute. Especially the data visualization folks.
Ordinary people in Germany who were not necessarily Nazi party members might have legitimately claimed they did not know what was happening in the concentration/ extermination/ labor camps nearby. It was, in fact, the unthinkable.
Maybe a lot of the Germans near the sites of inhumanity were still incredulous, as we are now, how quickly life in a place can turn into a dystopian horror film. Maybe they couldn't believe the brutality some people whispered about if they dared, if anyone dared then to trust a neighbor. Maybe some knew but were afraid for their lives to try to do anything about it.
It's Project Saltbox and similar efforts--and all of us who can't turn away from our catastrophe-- who will make sure no one old enough to vote today in the USA can pretend they didn't know what Trump's ICE is trying to do to fellow human beings and our communities. In our name, and with our taxpayer dollars:
Plowing capital from the taxpayers into rounding up families with children, children alone, individual adults in the process of attending an immigration appointment or doing an errand or picking up a children from school or seeking medical attention or doing essential work, elders and sick people alone, very few of whom have any kind of criminal record, and holding them like livestock in buildings never intended for habitation. In conditions that would not suffice for a prison. Buildings that wouldn't ordinarily qualify for a certificate from local authorities to **allow** habitation. Massive buildings in places with not enough water and sewage services to house extra thousands.
It's a curious Through the Looking Glass transfer-of-wealth regime we have. Whipping up anti-immigrant frenzy, Trump, his instigators, and enablers all pretend that the they are protecting "real Americans" from immigrants who are taking stuff that belongs to "real Americans." In fact, the Trump administration and all the GOP members of Congress and local governments and bankers and real estate trusts and contractors and scammers and grifters all over the country are taking precious environmental and infrastructure resources and taxpayer money from us and the government services we actually rely on--*all to persecute immigrants*.
And to normalize brutality and detention without due process, I suppose, though I hardly wish to write that out loud.
Thanks, Michael Wriston and all the folks at Project Satlbox. Keep up the good work.
(Project Saltbox provides an excellent example. We need information critical to resisting attacks on our communities, and the precious limited resources the towns and counties have invested in to support the people who live there in homes. Let's clone Project Saltbox to track and respond to massive mostly unstaffed AI server forts [**farms** are not the right word] that threaten colonizing our rural communities and undeveloped land outside our cities.)

Ignore word "heist" in my comment above. Typo

Thank you. Disgusting no matter where but I appreciate the information.
Nope, this is the town I live in. Hagerstown, Maryland.

It says Maryland at the beginning.
Originally it didn't give a location, I made a comment and the original poster edited to add Maryland and also let me know that he had edited it.
So yes, it does say Maryland now.
How do I get included and involved for anything happening in Hagerstown, MD?
Definitely get in touch with Washington County Indivisble (https://www.wcindivisible.com/) or Hagerstown Rapid Response on Facebook.
I just did. Thank you!
This is an article from a newspaper that I believe is free to read about Pennsylvania’s concentration camp warehouses and Josh Shapiro, governor.

Thanks.
Below the Belt (way) is another pod to check with Cameron Stevenson. He shows a map of the country with proposed, pending and denied concentration camp prison sites.
Thanks — we have an in-depth warehouse and detention site tracker here: https://tinyurl.com/ICEWarehouseTracker
Deny water and sewer usage which will be huge!
Yet, that likely would end up harming the forced detainees most 😡
Those vehicles are sitting ducks.
Burn it to the ground.
We need to lock up the children and grandchildren of Republican congressman, and Senators in these warehouses for a couple of weeks. Hell, throw the senators and congressman in too….
And send the rest of them to fight in Trump’s illegal Mideast war
Doesnt look like there’s a fence around the area yet
Burn it down

Nah, we’re the good guys. No hanging.
"Hanging him would be a good idea."
Ironically, this kind of thinking is the very rationalization for all existing and historical death camps.
Unfortunately that would only get you in trouble and not fix this atrocious roundup. I feel ya though... the cruelty must end
I only live 15 minutes from this place 😭
