Given that ICE is refusing to pay healthcare.contractors, concontractors should be careful. Trump is known for refusing to pay contractors, so it's not surprising that ICE is not paying. Also, bidding on these contracts puts a black mark on the contractors. Finally, 10 years only exists on paper. After the current administration, all bets are off on contracts. The federal government is a nightmare customer when it wants to cancel a contract. It won't be worth keeping the contract if the government wants out.
Maybe because private prison companies loooove detention not deportation. They lose money on deportations I'd guess. Sometimes I wonder if rotating and shuffling detainees is double great for them because it makes them impossible to find by advocates/ family AND they can charge for every "new" admission? Same people coming round and round so vacancy rate stays low and reimbursement high. Just a stab in the dark darkness we are in.
That’s our read of it. It’s possible that the central database work could be something that has been automated and negates any sort of forms upload. But that’s purely speculation, and ICE hasn’t responded with any clarity.
This is pretty grim. It already takes up to 48 hours to find somebody (that's how long it took us to find my friend in June of 2025) and if there's no requirement to log detainees' movements to other centers, they won't bother. In this hate filled atmosphere with many working in the field who detest immigrants, they're going to lose detainees with total impunity.
This is a disgusting waste of taxpayer money but even more importantly a disgusting way to treat our fellow humans. Welcome to our dystopian society:-(

If the goal is deportation, then why do we need these warehouses?

Does this mean detainees will be impossible to locate if moved to and between these facilities? Not that people are at all easy to find otherwise.
I have no idea, but my guess based on the language would be that many will still be very locatable. But, others will just disappear without any trace.

To know what's going on, close your eyes and imagine what people wanted 87 years ago in another continent.

Exactly my thought
Rushed, careless, chaotic. Who would want to work in this environment?
