Well this tells us everything we need to know about Moore. He's looking out only for himself, shameful. He acts just like old establishment dems....smdh

When I learned he was vacationing on a yacht with the Clooneys, that was enough for me. I just don’t understand how a public servant ends up on a yacht with the filthy rich. Maybe there’s a reasonable explanation but it didn’t seem right to me.

The County Commissioners, who are supposed to represent the local people, actually voted to support ICE’s plan rather than push back on behalf of their community

I’m so happy that governor Wes Moore diligently asked for transparency of the situation and continued to support all of the protesters! He is an amazing governor and really supports we the people! 😊😁

these buildings and secrecy only aid and abet the fascist regime's agenda e.g. Ice agents with weapons etc at every u.s. airport in usa starting on Mar 23 2026. per DHS public notice.

that facility and the owners should be sued in Federal court. the stakeholders may think they are going to get rich while the whole operation may be a federal felony civil rights crime.

Hagerstown MD may become the new Auschwitz Torture Center for detained children. something MD may become proud of like the U.S. Naval Academy.

The state of Maryland filed suit against DHS several weeks ago over this facility.

EdForceOneFan's avatar

Considering how many they are purchasing, does anyone else wonder if they are only going to be using them for immigrants… or also for dissenters?

Mary Wertsch's avatar

Trump has said he wants ICE facilities used for his opponents.

Well, accidents happen, but they wouldn't lie about something like that.

Of course dissenters. Guess I’ll be needing a change of address form from the Post Office when that happens.

I am the Hagerstown resident, and HRR member, that first moved on this by submitting my objection to MHT regarding DHS claiming compliance with Section 106 requirements. It is wild to me that they would have this meeting without the only local resident that has active consulting party status for the undertaking. Mind you, the fact that I beat the state of Maryland to the procedural objection (weeks ahead of the lawsuit) in the first place is cause for concern.

thank you for taking this on

Someone from the grassroots group should be there to represent what they’ve done and are doing.

Wouldn't you think Delaney said no to having an opponent there? Who called the meetkng?

I’m in favor of a public townhall where all concerned citizen can speak, separate from the Meeting between Gov Moore & Rep Delaney- but right after. We need the focus to stay on the issue at hand and this “dispute” feels unnecessarily messy and detracting from the mission.

Whether you like or dislike the Gov and/ or Rep Delaney, we need them to understand and represent the wishes of the community. I say this with great respect and admiration for HRR and the work that is being done. Everyone take a deep breath.

A clarification worth making: this isn't a meeting between Gov. Moore and Rep. McClain Delaney. It's a closed-door roundtable with a selected group of community stakeholders. Who gets included in that selection, and who decides, is what we reported on.

The call for a public town hall is exactly what HRR's letter to Moore and McClain Delaney asks for. On that, everyone appears to agree.

Thanks for following up and for making me take another look,Michael. Upon further reflection, I think my comment might have been more triggered by some of the other Social Media chatter on this topic.I tend to be the pragmatist in the room when things get heated🤷🏻‍♀️

Show up anyway! If they won’t let you in protest loudly enough to make it difficult for them to ignore you! We need to be more like the French and get creative with our protests! Show up with chains and gags or anything that brings the horribleness alive

this is most disturbing.

That is so wrong!! I am disappointed in Moore. As for April McClain this does not surpise me. She has voted with the Republicns more than once and not sure she has MD's best interest. You all s;hould have been invited.

This sure stinks🦨of Politics rather than what's best for the Community & the Nation. So did she quash their participation b/c a) she didn't want her opponent to get any credit, B) she wanted to take any credit for herself-or both.

Democracy dies in Darkness. If they want to claim to be a bunch of wussies who are afraid of repercussions-really, like it'll be a secret⁉-VOTE THEM OUT OF OFFICE. That brand of 🐄💩 is just as bad as the other.

Why were you left out? I’m confused as to the political messages in this decision? Is it Wechtaluk campaign/competition? I live in CA but follow Salt Box religiously. Critical work you all do for all of us! But, dense re: your state politics. Moore was taking trump on pretty ferociously while MN and his state were/are terrorized…
